Abstract

Coumarin derivatives are heterocyclic compounds of benzopyran group, belonging to plants metabolites, which their mainly roles are defense-related, as antimicrobial, antifeedant and germination inhibition properties. Besides their antimicrobial activities, coumarin derivatives showed certain ability to inhibit quorum sensing (QS). QS is a cell-to-cell signaling communication system which enables a populational behavior leading to a collective survival. In this work, it was selected coumarins 7-amino-3-carboxamide-disubstituted to evaluate their ability to inhibit QS signaling on Gram-negative bacteria using Chromobacterium violaceum as a biosensor for genic expression. Molecular docking presented good interaction between coumarins and the receptor binding site and the bioassays are in progress.
