Rules for preparing and sending abstracts: oral communications and posters

The Organizing Committee recommends that all aspects of the guidelines described below be observed. Attention to spelling and grammar should be paid, due to publishing of such works. Further, abstracts should contain the following elements:

- Title;

- Introduction. Context, theoretical aspects, and objective(s);

- Method (for studies) or Development of the work (for report of professional experience);

- Results and/or impact: the results identified in the research or the effects arising from the professional experience;

- Final Considerations. Implications of the research or experience and concluding points.

The abstract should be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman in written in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.

The following steps are necessary when submitting the abstract on the congress’s website:

1. Select the theme of the work.

2. Indicate the type of submission (oral communication, poster, or research-in-progress).

3. Enter a title of up to 18 words in upper case letters.

4. Enter the complete names of the authors, with the first letters of the first, last, and middle (if applicable) names in upper case. Include each author’s institution in parentheses; if the author is part of a university, he/she should include the department or laboratory (optional) as well as city and state. Use abbreviations only for the state name. Each author should be separated from the next by a semicolon. Undergraduate students should be identified with an asterisk after their names and graduate students with two asterisks.

5. Enter abstract of between 350 and 400 words. The body should contain the subtitles mentioned above but not paragraphs, bibliographic references, tables, or figures.

6. Supply three keywords which identify the work.

7. List financial support or scholarships, if any.

Rules for preparing and sending abstracts: research-in-progress

Steps 1 to 6 for oral communications and posters should be followed for this type of work as well. The abstract body should contain:

Introduction: indicate the objectives, including the principle research questions and/or the theoretical basis of the study.

Method: quantitative studies should include design, participants, instruments (measurements), and the data collection and analysis procedures; qualitative studies should include the design, participants, and the data collection and analysis methods.

Expected results: description of the expected results and/or preliminary results.

Current stage of research: describe the stage of the research, particularly in view of the overall plan for the work.

Discussion: discuss the possible contributions or implications to health care promotion and prevention.

Rules for preparing posters

• The display should be created only after the work has been accepted.

• The poster must be organized vertically, with a maximum size of 120 x 90 cm. All content must be readable from a distance of one meter away. The name(s) of the author(s) and their institution(s) must be below the title. Supplies for mounting posts will be available at the event.

• The title must be the same as that of the abstract as accepted for presentation.

• The poster should contain: title, name(s) of the author(s) and their institution(s), research data, and financing agency if applicable.

• Along with the poster, the author(s) may bring printed material describing their work (flyers, summaries of research, etc.) to hand out to those interested at the time of the exhibition.

• The posters must be set up at the time and day stipulated by the Organizing Committee for the beginning of the activity and taken down by the author(s) immediately after the end of the session. The presenter is required to be at the exhibition location for the period established by the Organizing Committee.
