Fossil fuels remain the world's primary energy source. However, due to their polluting potential, new alternatives from renewable sources are being sought. Green hydrogen produced via water electrolysis has gained prominence, but it still relies on noble metals as catalysts. Transition metals have been studied as replacements, utilizing electrodeposition as it is an easy-to-apply and low-cost technique. Ni, Co, and Fe were electrodeposited by chronopotentiometry on FTO under conditions determined by Design of Experiments (DoE) and evaluated for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), yielding overpotentials of 480 and 380 mV.
