Abstract

We have found that palitantin (1) is produced by a Geomyces sp. fungal strain in 200 mg/L yield. Its activity against Plasmodium falciparum showed IC50 > 50µM and no cytotoxicity. Aiming to enhance its bioactivity, this work will report the semi-synthesis of nine palitantin derivatives for assessment in antiplasmodial and antibacterial bioassays.
