Abstract

1. A UV-Vis spectrophotometric method for the quantification of total bufadienolides in extracts from toads was developed and validated;

2. The new method proposed is simple, fast, low cost, accurate and robust;

3. The developed method was adequate to determine the content of total bufadienolides in MeOH extracts the paratoid secretion from 12 samples of R. jimi and one sample of R. granulosa

4. Three extracts of R. jimi showed levels of total bufadienolides higher than those of R. granulosa
