This work shows that the natural eutectic solvent based on choline chloride and citric acid (1:2; mol/mol) had a high capacity for extracting the terpenes present in C. sinensis residues. Compared to the best method using NADES and HS-SME reported in the literature and reproduced in this study, the NADES of choline chloride and citric acid showed an extraction capacity 181% higher.
