Abstract

Two neolignans (1 and 2) were isolated from O. cymbarum and effects of these compounds with Cu2+ were studied. Compound 2 was more cytotoxic than 1, however, when combined with Cu2+, 1 showed enhanced activity. Intracellular Cu levels increased significantly with 1 + Cu2+ combined, suggesting cell death through cuproptosis, a new and rare mechanism of cell death
