Resumo

This study meaning to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of Stachys byzantina leaves essential oil and of byproduct from essential oil extraction (hydrolate) against pathogenic bacteria as B. cereus, E. coli, S. aureus, S. gallinarum and L monocytogenes by disc diffusion method. The essential oil and hydrolate were obtained by steam distillation being they showed inhibitory effect only against Listeria monocytogenes and the inhibition zones was 1.1cm by essential oil and 0.9 cm to hydrolate.
