UPLC-QToF-MS/MS fingerprint of “Cururu” toad (Rhinella jimi) poison: gender, seasonal variation and geographic occurrence

Abstract

1- This study identified 23 compounds in Rhinella jimi poison in females, while only 19 compounds in male toads.
2- Six metabolites are suggested as chemotaxonomic markers of the species.
3- Poisons of toads from Teresina city presented the highest amount of identified constituents (21), of which only 17 substances were found in the poisons collected in the cities of Picos and Parnaíba
4- The highest amount of compounds were measured in animals collected in the dry season (22 compounds)
