Abstract

This work aims at discovering new Plasmodium falciparum inhibitors from Cerrado plants as lead compounds candidates for malaria. Ethanolic extracts of 25 Cerrado plants, including the stem bark of Dalbergia miscolobium Benth. (Fabaceae)and Tabebuia ochracea ssp. Cham. Standl. (Bignoniaceae), and leaves of Pterodon pubescens Benth (Fabaceae), showed attractive parasite growth inhibition (IC503D7 ranged from 4 to 8.4 μg/mL) and promising selectivity index 16-20.
