Abstract

The aimed of this research was to evaluate the volatile pollen profile of stingless bees cultivated in southwestern Bahia. The extraction of volatiles was performed by micro hydrodistillation with Clavenger apparatus, then the hydrolate was partitioned with dichloromethane and rotary evaporated at 40ºC for further analysis on GC-SM by IEC and chromatogram results compared with the NIST 14 electronic library.
With the results it was possible to identify 33 constituents, among the major and most relevant ones: furfural, acetonyldimethylcarbinol, δ-octenolactone, isocaryophyllene, methyl14-methylhexadecanoate, hexadecanoic acid, 2-methyloctacosane, copaene, cadinene, spathulenol e caryophyllene. Previous studies cite some of these constituents in bee pollen composition in northern Brazil and plant volatiles in the semiarid of Bahia. The results can be justified by the correlation of climatics factors and the chemical composition of the polliniferous-nectariferous plants.
