Abstract

Optical analysis methods are ideal for analyzing nanoparticles due to their greater availability, cost, and speed. Green and traditional bottom-up chemical routes can synthesize silver nanoparticles to produce different shapes and tunable sizes, focusing on applications such as environmental health, drug delivery, and biosensing. The UV-Vis technique analyzed silver nanoparticles synthesized by our group, and each spectrum determined came from a triplicate synthetized condition sample. We estimated the particle sizes using methodologies based on scattering and absorption cross-sections under Mie's theory, such as the "Palik" database1, scattering software calculator2, and Haiss methodology3. So, using the former database methodology, the maxima wavenumber observed peaks were 366, 441, and 522 nm, with calculated size particle values of 19, 77, and 164 nm, respectively. The ten-nanometer diameter particle's extinction coefficient of 5.56 x 108 L mol-1 cm-1 was calculated from the 398 nm band based on Haiss analysis. Finally, the scattering software allows us to simulate the experimental spectra. Acknowledgement: CNPq; INCT-BIOANALITICA; CNANO/UFRGS.
