Abstract

The educational landscapes of the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) present a complex tapestry characterized by an interplay of challenges and opportunities arising from each country's unique context (Yuan, 2013). These nations, marked by geographical, social, cultural, and economic diversity, actively strive to build inclusive and equitable education systems while preserving their distinct identities (Dervin & Zajda, 2015). Educational inequalities within BRICS countries manifest in various forms, including disparities in access to education, duration of schooling, and the quality of education received (Thomas & De, 2018). These inequalities are often intertwined with economic, demographic, and cultural differences, posing particular challenges for specific groups of children and youth within each nation (Chaudhary et al., 2012). For instance, the urban-rural divide, as well as regional disparities, significantly impact educational opportunities (Ngwakwe, 2014). Despite the aspiration for unity and common standards, countries like Russia and China emphasize adapting their education systems to diverse group interests. Such a commitment to diversity necessitates innovative approaches to fostering social cohesion and cultural pluralism within educational settings. Recognizing local realities and adopting flexible educational strategies are crucial for successful development in this context. The limitations of global "one-size-fits-all" education strategies and the uncritical transfer of "best practices" across different contexts are becoming increasingly apparent (Burdett & O’Donnell, 2016). The emphasis is shifting towards acknowledging the importance of local specificities that influence the effectiveness of educational policies. Even international organizations recognize the need for adaptation to specific conditions. This research concentrates on a comprehensive analysis of contextual factors influencing educational inequalities within the BRICS nations. It pays particular attention to: • The interplay between geographical, social, cultural, and economic factors and educational disparities. • The role of government policies and programs in addressing educational inequalities. • The impact of globalization and technological advancements on the education systems of BRICS countries. • Prospects for developing inclusive and equitable education systems within the BRICS nations. This study will employ a mixed-methods approach, incorporating the following: Document Analysis: Examination of legal documents, policy papers, educational programs, and scholarly publications related to the education systems of BRICS countries. Statistical Analysis of Official Data: Collection and analysis of data concerning access to education, academic achievement, educational funding, and other indicators characterizing the state of education systems in BRICS nations. Expert Interviews: Conducting interviews with leading education specialists, representatives of educational authorities, and experts from BRICS countries. This research examines the state and development of general education systems within the BRICS countries, highlighting their unique experiences and approaches to ensuring accessible and high-quality education. Amidst global challenges and shifting demographics, BRICS nations strive for sustainable development and social justice by adapting educational strategies to local contexts and cultural specificities. The findings underscore the importance of considering the diversity and particular needs of various population groups, as well as the necessity of collaboration and knowledge exchange among these nations. BRICS unites countries with notable economic and social progress, where education plays a pivotal role. The education systems of BRICS nations encompass over one-third of the world's pupils and schools, establishing them as significant players in the international educational arena. The research emphasizes the need to consider local contexts and the sovereignty of educational policies, moving away from universal approaches. The BRICS countries exhibit geographical, social, and cultural diversity, which presents challenges and resources for their education systems. Significant disparities in access to education exist between urban and rural areas and among regions within countries. Each nation faces unique forms of inequality in educational opportunities. BRICS nations are developing unique strategies that consider their historical and cultural contexts. Examples include the integration of educational institutions in South Africa and efforts to equalize access to quality education in China. The importance of inclusivity and accounting for diversity within education systems is emerging as a central theme. All BRICS countries face universal challenges, such as climate change and the need to prepare youth for the workforce. Issues related to access to quality education necessitate the adaptation of educational strategies to local conditions and needs. The development of teacher training programs and support for inclusive education for children with disabilities are crucial aspects of this endeavor. Education systems across the BRICS nations encounter shared challenges related to educational inequality, yet each country presents its distinctive characteristics and obstacles. Addressing educational disparities necessitates a comprehensive approach, encompassing the development and implementation of effective government policies and programs while remaining sensitive to local contexts. Expanding collaboration within the realm of education among BRICS nations is essential. References: Yuan, S. (2013). Educational policies and economic growth in BRICS: Comparative perspectives.
